Focus on Focus : All-In On DeSo

Today I announce a slight pivot in my path forward as a web3 solopreneur and onchain content creator.

Hello!

This may not come as a surprise to some of you, but as of June 1, 2024, I’ve decided to shift the focus of this newsletter a bit.

As we anticipate the pending launch of Focus (the X-like social media app built on DeSo), I have decided to “focus on Focus”.

Going forward, I will serve as your expert on all things DeSo and a trusted guide to Focus and the DeSo ecosystem.

I’m now drawing a line in the onchain sand and dedicating my research, content production and consulting (almost exclusively) to DeSo.

This decision comes after several weeks of research, reflection, content experiments and engagement across multiple decentralized social networks.

I think there’s enough happening or about to happen on DeSo, to make this pivot. I expect there will be more than enough interesting things to write about and discuss related to DeSo in the coming years and months ahead.

We’re still very early.

This may seem like a bold and risky move to some, but I’m going with my gut. Over the past few years I’ve developed a strong conviction in the future potential of the DeSo protocol and excited to make it my onchain home base.

In the past, I’ve taken similar leaps of faith that were life-changing, such as my decision to focus on Bitcoin in 2012 and Ethereum in 2016.

Ultimately, I believe DeSo will be one of the top 3 blockchain-based social protocols in the future. I also believe the onchain creator economy is about to explode, with DeSo at the center. 🤯

As the worlds of blockchain technology, social media, and artificial intelligence converge, it’s such a special time to be onchain and get involved.

If you’ve been following me online or subscribe to this newsletter, you know I'm a huge supporter of all decentralized social networks and web3 social media apps. I promise you, this won’t change.

I will continued to gain first-hand experience using other onchain social protocols and apps or any innovative solutions that attempt to solve the problems of existing, centralized web2 social networks.

You’ll still occasionally see me post content and engage on other platforms such as Farcaster and Lens, but DeSo will remain my home base.

For those familiar with the Pareto Principle, also known as the 80/20 rule, that’s where I’m going with this. I’ll spend 80% of my time on everything related to DeSo/Focus and 20% on the broader Onchain Social Landscape.

I’m excited for you to join me in this journey as we explore the new frontier of decentralized social media on DeSo.

Let’s get focused - LASER FOCUSED!
